So my brother bought a used car which came with these:
Farroad Extra FRD88 I believe:
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Anyone know anything about this brand/tire? The fact they don’t seem to have their own website isn’t really encouraging (edit: apparently they do have a website: !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , and some really terrible SEO ) .
Also while they claim to be all seasons and carry an M+S marking, I’m not at all convinced these look especially safe for wet roads let alone snowy conditions. I’ve told him to be careful for now. Probably will try to convince him that getting some snow tires for the winter would be a good idea.

They actually do have a website
Sn
ow tires are a
good idea, but
if
you
can’t convince him
to get them, at least consider a 3-peak all-season

Why do dealers/people insist on using the cheapest tire possible? Tires are everything.

Yeah, I do not believe in going cheap on tires.

Yep, seems like people forget that the only bit of contact between the road and the car is tires...

I spend more time shopping for tires than I did for a house.

Because 90% of people won’t notice/ don’t care.
And profit

Tyre manufacturer from China...typical sort of open source copycat manufacturing that China is good at.
Probably it’s a decent tyre with basic performance characteristics. Occasionally, though...they can be incredibly durable and capable gems . You never know with these off brand tyres!

From what I see, they are listed as a high performance summer tire. Tread wear was not listed in most websites, but I did some listed with UTQG 320 A A.
Don’t expect many miles from these. I am fairly certain these were the cheapest tires in the correct size available from the tire distributor. Many dealer do this so they can say “new tires”.

I look at the tires as almost a diary for the vehicle.
Cheap tires just say “I don’t care”.
Irregular wear could mean out of alignment, out of balance, suspension issues, frame damage, lack of routine rotation, hard acceleration and braking and over/under pressure for extended periods.
Cuts, lumps, worn sidewalls could indicate driven into curb, big pot holes at speed and off road use.
Cracks say they have been on for far too long.
All of these indicate neglect, abuse or ignorance.
What do your tires say about you and the service history of your vehicle?

Local Bridgestone tyre shop sells that brand here
No issues with them that I’m aware of

Did he get it at a dealership?
The dealer I work at would put Uniroyal Tigerpaws on EVERYTHING that needed tires. Because they are dirt cheap.

The tyres on the farm ute are branded as Blue Streak...Huey only knows how old they are (could be a decade) and they’ve been fine despite epic mistreatment. Also had some amazing success with Nankang branded 4x4 tyres.
The worst tyres I’ve ever had were some Firestone tyres that were made in Asia in the early 90s and some Kleber OE tyres that VW factory fitted to the Transporter back in 2001.

simple, to keep costs down we reconditioning a car.
tyres only need to be roadworthy. nothing more.

I’m pretty much the same way. People are like “why are you looking at my tires?” Me: “I’m deciding if We can be friends or not.”
